I spent this past Saturday afternoon with Gina and Matt walking the streets in downtown Boston and the North End. They decided on photographing their engagement session at Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park (just outside Joe’s Bar & Grill), because they had their first few dates here. For those of you who’ve never been to Joe’s (like me), Gina and Matt both gave it glowing reviews for solid American cuisine! When I first met Gina and Matt I felt immediately comfortable around them. It only took a few minutes of being around them to see how much they care about each other, and to see they fit each others’ personalities perfectly. They’re both sharp, sarcastic, and warm-hearted (a brilliant combination in my opinion!). Even though they were familiar with the area, we discovered a few unique happenings such as: a traditional horse and carriage near Faneuil Hall, a merry-go-round near the Boston Harborwalk, brilliant colored walls and intimate alleys in the North End, and a sighting of a member from Run-D.M.C.! Their wedding will be near more water at the beautiful Independence Harbor in Assonet MA next month. I can’t wait to see these two again and photograph their wedding day, because I know it’s guaranteed to be a fun time!

I met Helen and Jason this past weekend at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University in Jamaica Plain, after rescheduling due to rainy weather in Boston, and found we were welcome with beautiful, spring weather and lush flowers in full bloom! Helen wore a beautiful heart-shaped diamond necklace; a gift from her fiance’ Jason and a symbol of their love. I couldn’t help but notice how Helen’s face lit up when he looked at her, and the way Jason kept fixing her hair and pausing to move it away from her face. So sweet! Their adorable dog of 4 and 1/2 years, Ozzy, joined us for their engagement session (doubling as a mini family photo session!). He is part of the family after all! Helen and Jason’s videographer, Elena Coyne, joined for part of their engagement session and snapped a quick iPhone photo of me while photographing the three of them by the water (picture on the left below). Amazingly, the photo I took on the right captures Ozzy licking his nose at the same time! Helen and Jason’s personalities really came through during their engagement session; fun and playful filled with endearing moments, class and tenderness. I have no doubt that their upcoming wedding at the Commander’s Mansion (with reception at Hei La Moon Chinese restaurant in Boston) will be even more exciting and enchanting to document!
I spent some time with Jess and Joe this past Sunday for their engagement photos at Columbus Waterfront Park and the North End Boston. They decided on this area (not only because it’s beautiful and so many interesting things to see and do), but because they also had their first date here! We were able to find the section of benches where they first sat together staring out over the water. How romantic to go back to that special place! We had a great time, and they’re just the sweetest couple. We lucked out with the weather overall, as it was a slightly cloudy, sunny day without rain. The sun kept peeking out behind the clouds, and at one point I heard Joe say something like “your eyes look so beautiful in this light” to Jess as he pulled her in for a kiss. Aw, LOVE! They showed me a little of their dance moves, and we talked and played along throughout the area and in the North End. Their wedding is next month at St John the Evangelist Church with their reception at the Hopkinton Country Club. I can only imagine how sweet and fun their wedding day will be, and I’m excited to share the day with them and photograph all of their incredible moments!
I met Melissa and Scott this past Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts to photograph their engagement session. This was their first time at the park, and I was excited to be their guide! It was a beautiful, early spring day and we lucked out with a warm sunset at the end of the night. I will be photographing their wedding at Look Park in Northampton, MA in one month on June 4th. They live in Western Massachusetts in Greenfield and have always grown up around nature (Scott even grew up on a farm!), so having their wedding and engagement day within nature seemed like the best idea. When I asked Melissa to bring a pair of back-up shoes if she was feeling adventurous to hike into a damp marsh for an amazing shot, she immediately said yes! Melissa and Scott are not only laid back and adventurous with nature, but they are also very playful with each other (which I love!). They had moments of loving banter with quick witted comments flying around and they both agreed it’s their way of keeping things interesting; it reminded me of how best friends can be with each other. They are also incredibly sweet with each other, and have been together 8+ years. I could clearly see they are each others’ best friends. I can’t wait to see them both glowing on their wedding day and capturing all of the sweet, playful and emotional moments that I know will fill their day.
